1 And the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* spake|strong="H1696" unto Moses|strong="H4872" in the plains|strong="H6160" of Moab|strong="H4124" by Jordan|strong="H3383" near Jericho|strong="H3405", saying|strong="H0559",
2 Command|strong="H6680" the children|strong="H1121" of Israel|strong="H3478", that they give|strong="H5414" unto the Levites|strong="H3881" of the inheritance|strong="H5159" of their possession|strong="H0272" cities|strong="H5892" to dwell in|strong="H3427"; and ye shall give|strong="H5414" also unto the Levites|strong="H3881" suburbs|strong="H4054" for the cities|strong="H5892" round about|strong="H5439" them.
3 And the cities|strong="H5892" shall they have to dwell in|strong="H3427"; and the suburbs|strong="H4054" of them shall be for their cattle|strong="H0929", and for their goods|strong="H7399", and for all their beasts|strong="H2416".
4 And the suburbs|strong="H4054" of the cities|strong="H5892", which ye shall give|strong="H5414" unto the Levites|strong="H3881", shall reach from the wall|strong="H7023" of the city|strong="H5892" and outward|strong="H2351" a thousand|strong="H0505" cubits|strong="H0520" round about|strong="H5439".
5 And ye shall measure|strong="H4058" from without|strong="H2351" the city|strong="H5892" on the east|strong="H6924" side|strong="H6285" two thousand|strong="H0505" cubits|strong="H0520", and on the south|strong="H5045" side|strong="H6285" two thousand|strong="H0505" cubits|strong="H0520", and on the west|strong="H3220" side|strong="H6285" two thousand|strong="H0505" cubits|strong="H0520", and on the north|strong="H6828" side|strong="H6285" two thousand|strong="H0505" cubits|strong="H0520"; and the city|strong="H5892" shall be in the midst|strong="H8432": this shall be to them the suburbs|strong="H4054" of the cities|strong="H5892".
6 And among the cities|strong="H5892" which ye shall give|strong="H5414" unto the Levites|strong="H3881" there shall be six|strong="H8337" cities|strong="H5892" for refuge|strong="H4733", which ye shall appoint|strong="H5414" for the manslayer|strong="H7523", that he may flee|strong="H5127" thither: and to them ye shall add|strong="H5414" forty|strong="H0705" and two|strong="H8147" cities|strong="H5892".
7 So all the cities|strong="H5892" which ye shall give|strong="H5414" to the Levites|strong="H3881" shall be forty|strong="H0705" and eight|strong="H8083" cities|strong="H5892": them shall ye give with their suburbs|strong="H4054".
8 And the cities|strong="H5892" which ye shall give|strong="H5414" shall be of the possession|strong="H0272" of the children|strong="H1121" of Israel|strong="H3478": from them that have many|strong="H7227" ye shall give many|strong="H7235"; but from them that have few|strong="H4592" ye shall give few|strong="H4591": every one|strong="H0376" shall give|strong="H5414" of his cities|strong="H5892" unto the Levites|strong="H3881" according|strong="H6310" to his inheritance|strong="H5159" which he inheriteth|strong="H5157".
9 And the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* spake|strong="H1696" unto Moses|strong="H4872", saying|strong="H0559",
10 Speak|strong="H1696" unto the children|strong="H1121" of Israel|strong="H3478", and say|strong="H0559" unto them, When ye be come over|strong="H5674" Jordan|strong="H3383" into the land|strong="H0776" of Canaan|strong="H3667";
11 Then ye shall appoint|strong="H7136" you cities|strong="H5892" to be cities|strong="H5892" of refuge|strong="H4733" for you; that the slayer|strong="H7523" may flee|strong="H5127" thither, which killeth|strong="H5221" any person|strong="H5315" at unawares|strong="H7684".
12 And they shall be unto you cities|strong="H5892" for refuge|strong="H4733" from the avenger|strong="H1350"; that the manslayer|strong="H7523" die|strong="H4191" not, until he stand|strong="H5975" before|strong="H6440" the congregation|strong="H5712" in judgment|strong="H4941".
13 And of these cities|strong="H5892" which ye shall give|strong="H5414" six|strong="H8337" cities|strong="H5892" shall ye have for refuge|strong="H4733".
14 Ye shall give|strong="H5414" three|strong="H7969" cities|strong="H5892" on this side|strong="H5676" Jordan|strong="H3383", and three|strong="H7969" cities|strong="H5892" shall ye give|strong="H5414" in the land|strong="H0776" of Canaan|strong="H3667", which shall be cities|strong="H5892" of refuge|strong="H4733".
15 These six|strong="H8337" cities|strong="H5892" shall be a refuge|strong="H4733", both for the children|strong="H1121" of Israel|strong="H3478", and for the stranger|strong="H1616", and for the sojourner|strong="H8453" among|strong="H8432" them: that every one that killeth|strong="H5221" any person|strong="H5315" unawares|strong="H7684" may flee|strong="H5127" thither.
16 And if he smite|strong="H5221" him with an instrument|strong="H3627" of iron|strong="H1270", so that he die|strong="H4191", he is a murderer|strong="H7523": the murderer|strong="H7523" shall surely|strong="H4191" be put to death|strong="H4191".
17 And if he smite|strong="H5221" him with throwing|strong="H3027" a stone|strong="H0068", wherewith he may die|strong="H4191", and he die|strong="H4191", he is a murderer|strong="H7523": the murderer|strong="H7523" shall surely|strong="H4191" be put to death|strong="H4191".
18 Or if he smite|strong="H5221" him with an hand|strong="H3027" weapon|strong="H3627" of wood|strong="H6086", wherewith he may die|strong="H4191", and he die|strong="H4191", he is a murderer|strong="H7523": the murderer|strong="H7523" shall surely|strong="H4191" be put to death|strong="H4191".
19 The revenger|strong="H1350" of blood|strong="H1818" himself shall slay|strong="H4191" the murderer|strong="H7523": when he meeteth|strong="H6293" him, he|strong="H1931" shall slay|strong="H4191" him.
20 But if he thrust|strong="H1920" him of hatred|strong="H8135", or hurl|strong="H7993" at him by laying of wait|strong="H6660", that he die|strong="H4191";
21 Or in enmity|strong="H0342" smite|strong="H5221" him with his hand|strong="H3027", that he die|strong="H4191": he that smote|strong="H5221" him shall surely|strong="H4191" be put to death|strong="H4191"; for he is a murderer|strong="H7523": the revenger|strong="H1350" of blood|strong="H1818" shall slay|strong="H4191" the murderer|strong="H7523", when he meeteth|strong="H6293" him.
22 But if he thrust|strong="H1920" him suddenly|strong="H6621" without|strong="H3808" enmity|strong="H0342", or have cast|strong="H7993" upon him any thing|strong="H3627" without laying of wait|strong="H6660",
23 Or with any stone|strong="H0068", wherewith a man may die|strong="H4191", seeing|strong="H7200" him not|strong="H3808", and cast|strong="H5307" it upon him, that he die|strong="H4191", and was not his enemy|strong="H0341", neither sought|strong="H1245" his harm|strong="H7451":
24 Then the congregation|strong="H5712" shall judge|strong="H8199" between the slayer|strong="H5221" and the revenger|strong="H1350" of blood|strong="H1818" according to these judgments|strong="H4941":
25 And the congregation|strong="H5712" shall deliver|strong="H5337" the slayer|strong="H7523" out of the hand|strong="H3027" of the revenger|strong="H1350" of blood|strong="H1818", and the congregation|strong="H5712" shall restore|strong="H7725" him to the city|strong="H5892" of his refuge|strong="H4733", whither he was fled|strong="H5127": and he shall abide|strong="H3427" in it unto the death|strong="H4194" of the high|strong="H1419" priest|strong="H3548", which was anointed|strong="H4886" with the holy|strong="H6944" oil|strong="H8081".
26 But if the slayer|strong="H7523" shall at any time|strong="H3318" come|strong="H3318" without the border|strong="H1366" of the city|strong="H5892" of his refuge|strong="H4733", whither he was fled|strong="H5127";
27 And the revenger|strong="H1350" of blood|strong="H1818" find|strong="H4672" him without|strong="H2351" the borders|strong="H1366" of the city|strong="H5892" of his refuge|strong="H4733", and the revenger|strong="H1350" of blood|strong="H1818" kill|strong="H7523" the slayer|strong="H7523"; he shall not be guilty of blood|strong="H1818":
28 Because he should have remained|strong="H3427" in the city|strong="H5892" of his refuge|strong="H4733" until the death|strong="H4194" of the high|strong="H1419" priest|strong="H3548": but after|strong="H0310" the death|strong="H4194" of the high|strong="H1419" priest|strong="H3548" the slayer|strong="H7523" shall return|strong="H7725" into the land|strong="H0776" of his possession|strong="H0272".
29 So these things shall be for a statute|strong="H2708" of judgment|strong="H4941" unto you throughout your generations|strong="H1755" in all your dwellings|strong="H4186".
30 Whoso killeth|strong="H5221" any person|strong="H5315", the murderer|strong="H7523" shall be put to death|strong="H7523" by the mouth|strong="H6310" of witnesses|strong="H5707": but one|strong="H0259" witness|strong="H5707" shall not testify|strong="H6030" against any person|strong="H5315" to cause him to die|strong="H4191".
31 Moreover ye shall take|strong="H3947" no satisfaction|strong="H3724" for the life|strong="H5315" of a murderer|strong="H7523", which is guilty|strong="H7563" of death|strong="H4191": but he shall be surely|strong="H4191" put to death|strong="H4191".
32 And ye shall take|strong="H3947" no satisfaction|strong="H3724" for him that is fled|strong="H5127" to the city|strong="H5892" of his refuge|strong="H4733", that he should come again|strong="H7725" to dwell|strong="H3427" in the land|strong="H0776", until the death|strong="H4194" of the priest|strong="H3548".
33 So ye shall not pollute|strong="H2610" the land|strong="H0776" wherein ye are: for blood|strong="H1818" it defileth|strong="H2610" the land|strong="H0776": and the land|strong="H0776" cannot be cleansed|strong="H3722" of the blood|strong="H1818" that is shed|strong="H8210" therein, but by the blood|strong="H1818" of him that shed|strong="H8210" it.
34 Defile|strong="H2930" not therefore the land|strong="H0776" which ye shall inhabit|strong="H3427", wherein|strong="H8432" I dwell|strong="H7931": for I the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* dwell|strong="H7931" among|strong="H8432" the children|strong="H1121" of Israel|strong="H3478".
