Who is as the wise|strong="H2450" man? and who knoweth|strong="H3045" the interpretation|strong="H6592" of a thing|strong="H1697"? a man’s|strong="H0120" wisdom|strong="H2451" maketh his face|strong="H6440" to shine|strong="H0215", and the boldness|strong="H5797" of his face|strong="H6440" shall be changed|strong="H8132".
I counsel thee to keep|strong="H8104" the king’s|strong="H4428" commandment|strong="H6310", and that in regard|strong="H1700" of the oath|strong="H7621" of God|strong="H0430".
Be not hasty|strong="H0926" to go out|strong="H3212" of his sight|strong="H6440": stand|strong="H5975" not in an evil|strong="H7451" thing|strong="H1697"; for he doeth|strong="H6213" whatsoever pleaseth|strong="H2654" him.
Where the word|strong="H1697" of a king|strong="H4428" is, there is power|strong="H7983": and who may say|strong="H0559" unto him, What doest|strong="H6213" thou?
Whoso keepeth|strong="H8104" the commandment|strong="H4687" shall feel|strong="H3045" no evil|strong="H7451" thing|strong="H1697": and a wise man’s|strong="H2450" heart|strong="H3820" discerneth|strong="H3045" both time|strong="H6256" and judgment|strong="H4941".
Because to every purpose|strong="H2656" there is|strong="H3426" time|strong="H6256" and judgment|strong="H4941", therefore the misery|strong="H7451" of man|strong="H0120" is great|strong="H7227" upon him.
For he knoweth|strong="H3045" not that which shall be: for who can tell|strong="H5046" him when it shall be?
There is no man|strong="H0120" that hath power|strong="H7989" over the spirit|strong="H7307" to retain|strong="H3607" the spirit|strong="H7307"; neither hath he power|strong="H7983" in the day|strong="H3117" of death|strong="H4194": and there is no discharge|strong="H4917" in that war|strong="H4421"; neither shall wickedness|strong="H7562" deliver|strong="H4422" those that are given|strong="H1167" to it.
All this have I seen|strong="H7200", and applied|strong="H5414" my heart|strong="H3820" unto every work|strong="H4639" that is done|strong="H6213" under the sun|strong="H8121": there is a time|strong="H6256" wherein one man|strong="H0120" ruleth|strong="H7980" over another to his own hurt|strong="H7451".
And so|strong="H3651" I saw|strong="H7200" the wicked|strong="H7563" buried|strong="H6912", who had come|strong="H0935" and gone|strong="H1980" from the place|strong="H4725" of the holy|strong="H6918", and they were forgotten|strong="H7911" in the city|strong="H5892" where they had so done|strong="H6213": this is also vanity|strong="H1892".
Because sentence|strong="H6599" against an evil|strong="H7451" work|strong="H4639" is not executed|strong="H6213" speedily|strong="H4120", therefore the heart|strong="H3820" of the sons|strong="H1121" of men|strong="H0120" is fully set|strong="H4390" in them to do|strong="H6213" evil|strong="H7451".
Though a sinner|strong="H2398" do|strong="H6213" evil|strong="H7451" an hundred times|strong="H3967", and his days be prolonged|strong="H0748", yet surely I know|strong="H3045" that it shall be well|strong="H2896" with them that fear|strong="H3373" God|strong="H0430", which fear|strong="H3372" before|strong="H6440" him:
But it shall not be well|strong="H2896" with the wicked|strong="H7563", neither shall he prolong|strong="H0748" his days|strong="H3117", which are as a shadow|strong="H6738"; because he feareth|strong="H3373" not before|strong="H6440" God|strong="H0430".
There is|strong="H3426" a vanity|strong="H1892" which is done|strong="H6213" upon the earth|strong="H0776"; that there be just|strong="H6662" men, unto whom it happeneth|strong="H5060" according to the work|strong="H4639" of the wicked|strong="H7563"; again, there be|strong="H3426" wicked|strong="H7563" men, to whom it happeneth|strong="H5060" according to the work|strong="H4639" of the righteous|strong="H6662": I said|strong="H0559" that this also|strong="H1571" is vanity|strong="H1892".
Then I commended|strong="H7623" mirth|strong="H8057", because a man|strong="H0120" hath no better thing|strong="H2896" under the sun|strong="H8121", than to eat|strong="H0398", and to drink|strong="H8354", and to be merry|strong="H8055": for that shall abide|strong="H3867" with him of his labour|strong="H5999" the days|strong="H3117" of his life|strong="H2416", which God|strong="H0430" giveth|strong="H5414" him under the sun|strong="H8121".
When I applied|strong="H5414" mine heart|strong="H3820" to know|strong="H3045" wisdom|strong="H2451", and to see|strong="H7200" the business|strong="H6045" that is done|strong="H6213" upon the earth|strong="H0776": (for also there is that neither day|strong="H3117" nor night|strong="H3915" seeth|strong="H7200" sleep|strong="H8142" with his eyes|strong="H5869":)
Then I beheld|strong="H7200" all the work|strong="H4639" of God|strong="H0430", that a man|strong="H0120" cannot|strong="H3201" find out|strong="H4672" the work|strong="H4639" that is done|strong="H6213" under the sun|strong="H8121": because|strong="H0834" though|strong="H7945" a man|strong="H0120" labour|strong="H5998" to seek it out|strong="H1245", yet he shall not find|strong="H4672" it; yea further; though a wise|strong="H2450" man think|strong="H0559" to know|strong="H3045" it, yet shall he not be able|strong="H3201" to find|strong="H4672" it.
