2 But|strong="G0235" even|strong="G2532" after that we had suffered before|strong="G4310", and|strong="G2532" were shamefully entreated|strong="G5195", as|strong="G2531" ye know|strong="G1492", at|strong="G1722" Philippi|strong="G5375", we were bold|strong="G3955" in|strong="G1722" our|strong="G2257" God|strong="G2316" to speak|strong="G2980" unto|strong="G4314" you|strong="G5209" the gospel|strong="G2098" of God|strong="G2316" with|strong="G1722" much|strong="G4183" contention|strong="G0073".
3 For|strong="G1063" our|strong="G2257" exhortation|strong="G3874" was not|strong="G3756" of|strong="G1537" deceit|strong="G4106", nor|strong="G3761" of|strong="G1537" uncleanness|strong="G0167", nor|strong="G3777" in|strong="G1722" guile|strong="G1388":
4 But|strong="G0235" as|strong="G2531" we were allowed|strong="G1381" of|strong="G5259" God|strong="G2316" to be put in trust with|strong="G4100" the gospel|strong="G2098", even so|strong="G3779" we speak|strong="G2980"; not|strong="G3756" as|strong="G5613" pleasing|strong="G0700" men|strong="G0444", but|strong="G0235" God|strong="G2316", which|strong="G3588" trieth|strong="G1381" our|strong="G2257" hearts|strong="G2588".
5 For|strong="G1063" neither|strong="G3777" at any time|strong="G4218" used we|strong="G1096" flattering|strong="G2850" words|strong="G3056", as|strong="G2531" ye know|strong="G1492", nor|strong="G3777" a cloke|strong="G4392" of covetousness|strong="G4124"; God|strong="G2316" is witness|strong="G3144":
6 Nor|strong="G3777" of|strong="G1537" men|strong="G0444" sought we|strong="G2212" glory|strong="G1391", neither|strong="G3777" of|strong="G0575" you|strong="G5216", nor|strong="G3777" yet of|strong="G0575" others|strong="G0243", when we might|strong="G1410" have been|strong="G1511" burden|strong="G0922"some|strong="G1722", as|strong="G5613" the apostles|strong="G0652" of Christ|strong="G5547".
7 But|strong="G0235" we were|strong="G1096" gentle|strong="G2261" among|strong="G1722" you|strong="G5216", even|strong="G0302" as|strong="G5613" a nurse|strong="G5162" cherisheth|strong="G2282" her|strong="G1438" children|strong="G5043":
8 So|strong="G3779" being affectionately desirous|strong="G2442" of you|strong="G5216", we were willing|strong="G2106" to have imparted|strong="G3330" unto you|strong="G5213", not|strong="G3756" the gospel|strong="G2098" of God|strong="G2316" only|strong="G3440", but|strong="G0235" also|strong="G2532" our own|strong="G1438" souls|strong="G5590", because|strong="G1360" ye were|strong="G1096" dear|strong="G0027" unto us|strong="G2254".
9 For|strong="G1063" ye remember|strong="G3421", brethren|strong="G0080", our|strong="G2257" labour|strong="G2873" and|strong="G2532" travail|strong="G3449": for|strong="G1063" labouring|strong="G2038" night|strong="G3571" and|strong="G2532" day|strong="G2250", because|strong="G4314" we would|strong="G1912" not|strong="G3361" be chargeable unto|strong="G1912" any|strong="G5100" of you|strong="G5216", we preached|strong="G2784" unto|strong="G1519" you|strong="G5209" the gospel|strong="G2098" of God|strong="G2316".
10 Ye|strong="G5210" are witnesses|strong="G3144", and|strong="G2532" God|strong="G2316" also, how|strong="G5613" holily|strong="G3743" and|strong="G2532" justly|strong="G1346" and|strong="G2532" unblameably|strong="G0274" we behaved ourselves|strong="G1096" among you|strong="G5213" that|strong="G3588" believe|strong="G4100":
11 As|strong="G2509" ye know|strong="G1492" how|strong="G5613" we exhorted|strong="G3870" and|strong="G2532" comforted|strong="G3888" and|strong="G2532" charged|strong="G3140" every|strong="G1538" one|strong="G1520" of you|strong="G5216", as|strong="G5613" a father|strong="G3962" doth his|strong="G1438" children|strong="G5043",
12 That|strong="G1519" ye|strong="G5209" would walk|strong="G4043" worthy|strong="G0516" of God|strong="G2316", who|strong="G3588" hath called|strong="G2564" you|strong="G5209" unto|strong="G1519" his|strong="G1438" kingdom|strong="G0932" and|strong="G2532" glory|strong="G1391".
13 For|strong="G1223" this|strong="G5124" cause|strong="G1223" also|strong="G2532" thank|strong="G2168" we|strong="G2249" God|strong="G2316" without ceasing|strong="G0089", because|strong="G3754", when ye received|strong="G3880" the word|strong="G3056" of God|strong="G2316" which ye heard|strong="G0189" of|strong="G3844" us|strong="G2257", ye received|strong="G1209" it not|strong="G3756" as the word|strong="G3056" of men|strong="G0444", but|strong="G0235" as|strong="G2531" it is|strong="G2076" in truth|strong="G0230", the word|strong="G3056" of God|strong="G2316", which|strong="G3739" effectually worketh|strong="G1754" also|strong="G2532" in|strong="G1722" you|strong="G5213" that|strong="G3588" believe|strong="G4100".
14 For|strong="G1063" ye|strong="G5210", brethren|strong="G0080", became|strong="G1096" followers|strong="G3402" of the churches|strong="G1577" of God|strong="G2316" which|strong="G3588" in|strong="G1722" Judaea|strong="G2449" are|strong="G5607" in|strong="G1722" Christ|strong="G5547" Jesus|strong="G2424": for|strong="G3754" ye|strong="G5210" also|strong="G2532" have suffered|strong="G3958" like things|strong="G5024" of|strong="G5259" your own|strong="G2398" countrymen|strong="G4853", even|strong="G2532" as|strong="G2531" they|strong="G0846" have of|strong="G5259" the Jews|strong="G2453":
15 Who|strong="G3588" both|strong="G2532" killed|strong="G0615" the Lord|strong="G2962" Jesus|strong="G2424", and|strong="G2532" their own|strong="G2398" prophets|strong="G4396", and|strong="G2532" have persecuted|strong="G1559" us|strong="G2248"; and|strong="G2532" they please|strong="G0700" not|strong="G3361" God|strong="G2316", and|strong="G2532" are contrary|strong="G1727" to all|strong="G3956" men|strong="G0444":
16 Forbidding|strong="G2967" us|strong="G2248" to speak|strong="G2980" to the Gentiles|strong="G1484" that|strong="G2443" they might be saved|strong="G4982", to|strong="G1519" fill up|strong="G0378" their|strong="G0846" sins|strong="G0266" alway|strong="G3842": for|strong="G1161" the wrath|strong="G3709" is come|strong="G5348" upon|strong="G1909" them|strong="G0846" to|strong="G1519" the uttermost|strong="G5056".
17 But|strong="G1161" we|strong="G2249", brethren|strong="G0080", being taken|strong="G0642" from|strong="G0575" you|strong="G5216" for|strong="G4314" a short|strong="G5610" time|strong="G2540" in presence|strong="G4383", not|strong="G3756" in heart|strong="G2588", endeavoured|strong="G4704" the more abundantly|strong="G4056" to see|strong="G1492" your|strong="G5216" face|strong="G4383" with|strong="G1722" great|strong="G4183" desire|strong="G1939".
18 Wherefore|strong="G1352" we would have|strong="G2309" come|strong="G2064" unto|strong="G4314" you|strong="G5209", even|strong="G3303" I|strong="G1473" Paul|strong="G3972", once|strong="G0530" and|strong="G2532" again|strong="G1364"; but|strong="G2532" Satan|strong="G4567" hindered|strong="G1465" us|strong="G2248".
19 For|strong="G1063" what|strong="G5101" is our|strong="G2257" hope|strong="G1680", or|strong="G2228" joy|strong="G5479", or|strong="G2228" crown|strong="G4735" of rejoicing|strong="G2746"? Are not|strong="G3780" even|strong="G2532" ye|strong="G5210" in the presence of|strong="G1715" our|strong="G2257" Lord|strong="G2962" Jesus|strong="G2424" Christ|strong="G5547" at|strong="G1722" his|strong="G0846" coming|strong="G3952"?
20 For|strong="G1063" ye|strong="G5210" are|strong="G2075" our|strong="G2257" glory|strong="G1391" and|strong="G2532" joy|strong="G5479".
